Fremantle Sells 100+ Hours to Latin America
The international distributor has landed over 100 hours-worth of content sales from across its scripted and non-scripted catalogue at Natpe in Miami to buyers in Latin America and US Hispanic.
FremantleMedia International has generated over 100 hours-worth of content sales from across its scripted and non-scripted catalogue at Natpe.
The deals to Latin American and US Hispanic broadcasters include an array of non-scripted titles, as well as three outstanding international dramas from world-renowned scripted producers: Kudos, Wildside and UFA Fiction.

Kudos’ Apple Tree Yard has been picked up by Fox’s Pan Latin American networks. Adapted from the best-selling novel by Louise Doughty, and starring Academy Award nominee, Emily Watson, the 4 x 60 mini-series is a tense, provocative story about a respected female scientist and the single impulsive act that leads to her standing trial for murder.
Direct TV has picked up both Wildside’s Mafia Only Kills in Summer and UFA Fiction’s Deutschland ’86 for its US Hispanic Networks. Based on the multi award-winning and critically acclaimed movie of the same name Mafia Only Kills in Summer (12 x 60) mixes tragedy and comedy to tell the story of an Italian family, beginning in late 1970s Palermo, against a backdrop of growing mafia violence.
Meanwhile Deutschland ’86 picks ups the story of East German Agent Martin Rauch (Jonas Nay) and his compatriots in the Stasi Foreign Intelligence three years after the original story. Set against the backdrop of real events during the last Summer of Anxiety, when terrorism raged across Western Europe, Martin’s dark mission takes him to Johannesburg, Tripoli, Paris, West Berlin and finally back to East Berlin, where he is forced to face new realities at home – and to make an impossible decision.
In addition to its scripted sales, FMI has also sold a selection of non-scripted titles from its slate to Latin American and US Hispanic networks. These include 25 hours of the world’s most travelled dating format, Take Me Out, as well as 8 x 60 documentary The Cars That Made Us (Discovery Latin America); the latest (23 x 60) season of global blockbuster America’s Got Talent (Sony Networks) and the second season (10 x 60) of the behind-the-scenes of Bondi’s iconic tattoo store, Bondi Ink (Turner).
